FPGA Associate (Winter 2027)
Role Summary
Short-term, salaried associate role working on FPGA RTL and hardware integration for satellite communications systems. The role is hands-on and cross-functional, collaborating with electrical and software engineers to implement and test FPGA-based data-paths and peripheral interfaces.
Experience Level
Entry-level / new graduate. Associate positions are typically 12 weeks and intended for candidates who have completed a four-year degree.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include RTL development, hardware bring-up, and verification on FPGA platforms.
- Develop RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for FPGA-targeted applications and high-throughput data paths.
- Work with multiple FPGA families and toolchains to synthesize and implement designs.
- Interface FPGAs to peripherals: high-speed ADCs/DACs, memories, microcontrollers, and other I/O.
- Write software and testbenches to exercise and validate RTL on hardware.
- Perform hardware bring-up, debug, and collaborate closely with electrical and software teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and eligibility requirements; bonus skills listed separately.
- Practical experience designing, implementing, and testing high-throughput systems on FPGAs.
- Proficiency with Verilog or SystemVerilog for synthesis.
- Hands-on hardware development mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Eligible to work in the United States: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or refugee/asylee.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with UVM and advanced SystemVerilog verification methodologies.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGAs, Vivado IDE, and TCL scripting.
- Familiarity with high-speed data converters (ADCs, DACs, JESD204B) and circuit-level debugging.
- Background in digital communications (e.g., LDPC), DSP, RF/IF concepts, or hi-rel/space systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's (B.S.) or Master's (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree; or equivalent practical experience. Associate positions expect candidates who have graduated from a four-year university.
