Foundry Strategic Industrial Engineer
Role Summary
Drive capacity, cost, and operational strategy for Intel Foundry by developing data systems, financial and capacity models, and decision-support processes. Work with technology development, supply chain, factories, and finance to translate market and product requirements into executable manufacturing strategies.
This role requires regular onsite presence at the assigned Intel site and will operate within a hybrid work model.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have several years of relevant industrial/manufacturing engineering or analytical experience; see Education Requirements for degree-plus-experience combinations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing models, coordinating analyses, and enabling cross-functional decisions.
- Develop and maintain capacity, production layout, and data systems used for planning and decision-making.
- Build financial models (should-cost, NPV/ROI, what-if scenarios) to evaluate trade-offs for products, processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Perform scenario-based analysis to quantify risks, opportunities, and impacts; communicate results to influence decisions at all levels.
- Partner with technology development, supply chain, high-volume manufacturing (HVM), and finance to align models and forecasts with business needs.
- Facilitate cross-functional business processes and milestone-driven decision forums to ensure execution against targets.
- Optimize equipment schedules, schedule logic, and procurement needs to support technology ramps.
- Lead strategic initiatives to improve department capabilities, data quality, and operational efficiency.
- Present complex analyses clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders to support strategic choices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behavioral traits; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven experience in data analysis and building decision-support models for capacity, cost, or production planning.
- Strong financial analysis skills including scenario modeling and ROI/NPV assessment.
- Ability to design and maintain data systems and reports used across organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional efforts, facilitate processes, and influence stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying complex information to management.
- Problem-solving orientation, initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work with ambiguous inputs.
- Preferred: experience with equipment scheduling, procurement planning, and production layout modeling.
- Preferred: leadership experience executing fast-paced, complex projects across multiple teams.
- Preferred: domain knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging processes.
Education Requirements
One of the following is required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics plus 3+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics plus 2+ years relevant experience; OR PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics plus 1+ year relevant experience. Relevant experience may come from schoolwork, research, internships, or prior employment.
