Foundation IP Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Broadcom's Central Engineering Group as a memory design engineer focused on developing memory compilers and custom memory macros for advanced process nodes. The role covers circuit- and layout-level design, characterization, physical integration, and silicon correlation.

Experience Level

Mid-level — 5+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Design, simulate, verify, and integrate memory macros from circuit concept through silicon.

• Analyze memory architectures and evaluate trade-offs.
• Design memory and circuit blocks at gate/transistor level.
• Perform transistor-level simulation, extraction, and post-layout verification.
• Floorplan physical implementation and integrate leafcell layouts to produce physical macros.
• Integrate characterization flows to extract timing and power data and automate those flows with scripts.
• Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models and document specifications and timing.
• Define silicon test plans and correlate silicon measurements to simulation data; assist with silicon debug.

Requirements

Core technical skills and behaviors required for success in the role.

• Experience developing memory compilers or custom digital memories (SRAM, register files, multi-port, ROM, etc.).
• Strong understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, EM/IR, and reliability analysis.
• Familiarity with memory behavioral and physical modeling and DFT integration at chip level.
• Proficient with circuit simulators and automation scripting; tools-savvy.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with test setups, silicon testing, and debug.

Education Requirements

Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of related experience.
