Formal Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on pre-silicon formal verification for NVIDIA's Networking team, focusing on proving correctness of NIC logic and communication protocols used in high-performance computing and data-center products.
Collaborate with the pre-silicon design and verification team to develop and apply formal verification methodologies and tools that support tapeout-quality designs.
Experience Level
Mid-level — 1–3 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Apply formal verification algorithms and tools to prove correctness of complex digital logic and protocol implementations.
- Integrate formal checks with pre-silicon verification flows and collaborate with RTL designers and verification engineers.
- Analyze design and specification issues, create verification plans, and develop assertions and formal properties.
- Debug failures reported by formal tools and work with the team to close verification gaps.
- Learn and advance formal methodologies and contribute to verification best practices for NIC designs.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills.
- Must-have: 1–3 years of relevant experience in hardware verification, design verification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven debugging and root-cause analysis capability for digital designs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work within cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior formal verification experience and familiarity with formal tools and property languages.
- Knowledge of digital logic and hardware design methodologies.
Education Requirements
BSc in Electrical or Computer Engineering or an MSc in Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
