Formal Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join Arm's Solutions Group to develop and deploy formal verification techniques for next-generation processor and digital-system designs. The role focuses on shaping verification strategy and performing hands-on formal verification on complex projects in close collaboration with domain experts.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically 5+ years of formal verification experience on sophisticated designs.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include developing and deploying formal verification methods and collaborating with engineering teams.

  • Develop and apply formal verification techniques to next-generation designs.
  • Create and implement formal verification strategies and methodologies.
  • Translate abstract formal concepts into practical verification solutions and proofs.
  • Work closely with design teams and domain experts to influence verification and design decisions.
  • Diagnose verification failures; refine models, invariants and abstractions.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Strong engineering mindset with excellent attention to detail and reasoning skills.
  • Solid understanding of verification principles, computer architecture and microarchitectural design.
  • Ability to translate formal concepts into effective, practical verification solutions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with industry-standard formal verification tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Tcl or Shell.
  • Familiarity with the Arm architecture and AMBA protocols.
  • Knowledge of advanced model-checking techniques, assume-guarantee reasoning, invariants and abstractions.
