Formal Verification CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm's GCAD Formal team in Bangalore to perform formal verification on complex ASIC blocks. The role focuses on building and driving formal verification flows, interacting with architecture and design teams globally, and improving sign-off quality.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career - requires approximately 2+ years of hands-on formal verification experience.

Responsibilities

The engineer will deliver formal verification sign-off through advanced formal apps, automation, and cross-team collaboration.

• Drive formal verification of complex design blocks using advanced formal applications and convergence strategies.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and flows (Python preferred) to scale FV work.
• Set up proofs, constraints, abstractions, and review formal environments with design and DV teams.
• Analyze difficult formal problems and propose effective verification strategies.
• Collaborate with global architecture, design, and systems teams to meet verification goals.
• Engage with EDA vendors and evaluate formal/DV methodologies to improve sign-off quality.
• Apply low-power formal methodology where relevant.

Requirements

Core technical and collaboration skills required; preferred skills listed separately.

Must-have

• 2+ years of hands-on formal verification experience.
• Strong understanding of formal concepts, proof strategies, and abstraction techniques.
• Proficiency with formal tools (examples: Jasper, VC Formal, Questa Formal).
• Strong scripting ability; Python strongly preferred.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for global team collaboration.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with property-based FV (SVA) and power-aware verification concepts.
• Familiarity with UPF/CPF, isolation/retention, power/clock gating, and power-intent debugging.
• Experience engaging with EDA vendors on advanced verification methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
