Firmware Solutions Engineer

Role Summary

Join Intel's Networking Solutions Group as a software enabling and optimization engineer working at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and software to deliver Ethernet networking solutions. Collaborate with customers, ecosystem partners, and internal engineering teams to enable products, optimize performance, and resolve system-level technical issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typical hire has multiple years of engineering experience. The role expects prior embedded software, validation, or technical customer support experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on customer enablement, debugging, verification, and documentation to support production deployments.

  • Collaborate with customers and ecosystem partners to design and implement tailored networking solutions and ensure successful production deployment.
  • Lead and support rapid debugging and issue resolution across internal and external engineering teams.
  • Identify feature gaps and drive improvements in product capabilities, tools, and usage models.
  • Develop, test, and debug system-level use cases and workloads; verify software across diverse platforms and operating systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as release notes, user guides, application notes, and white papers.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to influence product direction and customer outcomes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in embedded software development, validation, or technical customer support.
  • Practical experience programming or debugging in Assembly, C++, or Python (2+ years preferred).
  • Experience debugging complex systems and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with software version control and build/development toolchains.
  • Working knowledge of Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Red Hat), including networking stacks and drivers.
  • Ability to collaborate in customer-facing, high-stakes environments and produce clear technical documentation.
  • Regular onsite presence is required to fulfill essential job responsibilities.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, with 3+ years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience in lieu of a listed degree.
