Firmware Engineer - Power Management
Role Summary
Develop and maintain embedded power-management firmware (PMFW, DXIO) for AMD Embedded products serving networking, storage, automotive and thin-client markets. Work with platform firmware teams, product architects and customers to design, deliver and support firmware features.
Experience Level
Senior-level; the posting indicates approximately 9β15 years of hands-on firmware development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering and customer-facing responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, test and review PMFW and DXIO firmware features and releases.
- Collaborate with core firmware teams and Platform Firmware Organization (PFO) to incorporate Embedded market requirements.
- Review and translate firmware requirements and enhancements for targeted Embedded segments.
- Provide custom firmware design support for tier-1 customers, including producing design documents and user guides.
- Assist customer support teams with firmware-related queries and issue resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, plus a few desirable extras.
- Must-have: Extensive hands-on firmware development (firmware design, implementation, testing and release processes), strong C programming skills.
- Must-have: Experience with BIOS, platform BIOS development, power management concepts, and PCIe.
- Must-have: Knowledge of UEFI BIOS and ACPI; solid understanding of SoC power management (CPU/device power states, hot-plug behavior).
- Must-have: Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-team and customer interactions.
- Nice-to-have: AGESA experience and familiarity with OS/drivers/software stacks.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
