Role Summary

Develop and debug embedded controller firmware for Micron's data center solid state drives. Work on performance, reliability, validation, and failure analysis in collaboration with hardware, validation, and system engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include firmware development, validation, and cross-team troubleshooting.

  • Develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for Data Center SSD controllers and memory systems.
  • Analyze firmware behavior, troubleshoot failures, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system engineering teams to reproduce and resolve product issues.
  • Contribute to firmware integration, performance optimization, and validation activities.
  • Participate in code reviews, bug tracking, and continuous improvement of development processes.

Requirements

  • Experience or academic background in embedded firmware development.
  • Programming experience in Python and familiarity with at least one system-level language (C or C++).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, development tools, and debugging environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with storage systems or interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS.
  • Exposure to NAND flash or other non-volatile memory technologies.
  • Knowledge of firmware debugging, failure analysis, and performance profiling.
  • Experience with low-level programming (assembly, Rust) or deep embedded systems interaction with hardware components.

Education Requirements
