Filter Design Intern

Role Summary

Contribute to the design, simulation, and characterization of BAW/SAW acoustic filters and their laminate integration into RFFE modules within the Advanced Cellular business group. Work with cross-functional teams to meet RF performance, cost, and schedule targets and to improve the design flow.

Internship includes mentorship and hands-on project experience in RF filter design.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program; suitable for early-career candidates and current graduate students.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design BAW/SAW acoustic filter components for wireless RF applications.
  • Support laminate integration of filter components into RFFE modules.
  • Run circuit and electromagnetic (EM) simulations using commercial and internal tools.
  • Verify designs against product specifications for RF performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Work with characterization teams to evaluate and diagnose RF components.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods and processes.

Requirements

Key technical and professional skills (education summarized separately):

  • Analog/RF circuit design coursework or practical experience.
  • Experience with at least one circuit simulator (e.g., ADS, AWR).
  • Experience with at least one FEM/EM simulator (e.g., HFSS, CST).
  • Familiarity with RF measurement equipment such as spectrum and network analyzers (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program. Preference for MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with focus on RF & Microwaves. (Qorvo's internship program is open to undergraduate and graduate students.)
