Field Applications Engineer III

Role Summary

Senior applications engineer responsible for providing technical support and solutions for customers using Lattice Semiconductor products. Works with customers, sales, and product teams to resolve system-level issues, enable designs, and demonstrate product capabilities.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires several years of relevant applications or design experience (commonly 5+ years).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include customer engagement, technical problem solving, and cross-team collaboration.

• Provide technical support to customers for product selection, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Lead application projects and demos, including board bring-up and proof-of-concept development.
• Analyze customer designs, reproduce issues, and propose hardware/software solutions.
• Create technical collateral: application notes, reference designs, and example code.
• Collaborate with sales, product management, and engineering to communicate customer requirements and bugs.
• Travel to customer sites as needed to support deployments and validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes, plus desirable additions.

• Must-have: Proven experience supporting customers in embedded systems, FPGA, CPLD, or semiconductor-based designs; strong debugging and system-level troubleshooting skills; excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Must-have: Practical experience with hardware bring-up, signal integrity basics, and embedded software workflows.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Lattice devices or similar FPGA toolchains, scripting for automation, and familiarity with high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, SERDES, DDR).
