Role Summary
Senior field applications engineer responsible for technical engagement with customers to enable design wins and successful deployment of FPGA/programmable-logic based solutions. Works across sales, product management, and engineering to deliver hardware/software reference designs, debug complex system issues, and provide product feedback.
Experience Level
Senior — senior individual contributor, typically several years of field applications or systems engineering experience supporting customers.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical customer support, solution development, and cross-team collaboration.
- Engage with customers and partners to understand system requirements and provide technical solutions using company products.
- Develop and deliver reference designs, application demos, evaluation platforms, and proof-of-concept prototypes.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware, firmware, and software issues at the board and system level.
- Provide pre-sales technical support and product evaluations; present technical material to customers and internal teams.
- Work with product management and engineering to communicate customer requirements, report bugs, and propose feature improvements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and training materials for customers and field teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for effective performance in the role.
- Proven experience in customer-facing technical roles such as field applications, systems engineering, or technical support.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic design, FPGA or programmable-logic devices, and typical tool flows for synthesis, implementation, and timing closure.
- Experience with hardware debugging (oscilloscope, logic analyzer) and board-level bring-up.
- Familiarity with embedded software, device drivers, or firmware development and common interfaces (SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet, USB).
- Ability to create reference designs, application demos, and customer-facing technical collateral.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for technical presentations and reports.
