Field Applications Engineer
Role Summary
The Field Applications Engineer provides technical support to customers, distributors, and internal teams to enable design-in and drive product adoption for Central Semiconductor. This role translates customer system and component requirements into product recommendations, resolves technical issues, and coordinates cross-functional responses with engineering, quality, operations, and sales.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 5β7 years of relevant engineering or applications experience in electronics or semiconductor-related roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include supporting pre- and post-sales technical activity, promoting design wins, and representing the company at customer and industry events.
- Work directly with customers to assess system and component requirements and recommend Central products or solutions.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support: product selection, application guidance, component evaluation, board-level testing support, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, quality, operations, and production to resolve customer design challenges and product requirements.
- Support design-in and design-win activities; track opportunities and advance technical engagements through the sales cycle.
- Develop and present customer-facing technical materials: presentations, application notes, design guides, and training materials.
- Deliver product and application training for sales teams, representatives, distributors, and customers.
- Represent the company at customer visits, trade shows, symposiums, and technical events; travel domestically and internationally as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and eligibility for the role. Preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: 5β7 years in applications engineering, field applications, product or design engineering, or related roles.
- Must-have: Ability to interpret detailed electrical and mechanical customer specifications.
- Must-have: Ability to perform basic electronic circuit analysis to determine component selection.
- Must-have: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must-have: Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.
- Must-have: Must be a US Person (eligibility requirement).
- Must-have: Willingness and availability to travel approximately 30β50% domestically and internationally.
- Nice-to-have: Experience in discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, MOSFETs, protection devices) or prior customer-facing FAE/sales-engineering roles.
- Nice-to-have: Experience supporting design-in/design-win activity with OEMs, distributors, or strategic accounts.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with failure analysis, quality investigations, corrective action, and customer product qualifications.
- Nice-to-have: Experience developing technical papers, application notes, training materials, and presenting at trade shows or conferences.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Aerospace & Defense customers or regulated industries.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field is stated as the preferred education; equivalent directly related experience may be considered.
