Field Application Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)
Role Summary
The intern will support Field Application Engineering activities: provide technical support to customers, assist with technology evaluations, support tapeout activities, and help drive successful design-ins and first-time-right outcomes.
This role works with internal subject-matter experts and customer teams to match GF technologies to application requirements and to create customer-facing technical materials.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for students; intended for undergraduates (sophomore or above) or master's students seeking practical experience in semiconductor field application engineering.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include technical support, coordination with internal teams, and documentation for customer engagements.
- Learn GF technology offerings, features, and differentiators from internal experts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align technology with customer requirements and evaluations.
- Assist customers with technical evaluations and tapeout execution alongside GF subject-matter experts.
- Create customer-facing technical documentation that explains how GF technology addresses application and market needs.
- Support design-win activities and contribute to first-time-right outcomes.
- Perform all work following Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and practical skills required for success in the role.
- English fluency (written and verbal).
- Ability to work full-time during the internship (minimum 40 hours per week).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office; exposure to EDA tools and Linux is desirable.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a related area.
- Leadership experience in projects, competitions, or student organizations.
- Interest in using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve workflows.
- Project management, planning, and organizational skills.
Education Requirements
At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited program. Must have at least a 3.0 overall GPA and be in good academic standing. Relevant coursework mentioned includes Circuit Design, Semiconductor Device Physics, and Materials Science.
