Field Application Engineer – Radar System
Role Summary
Provide pre-sales technical leadership for 77 GHz radar systems, supporting customers from architecture and silicon selection through bring-up, debugging, and protocol-stack integration. The role sits within Global Sales and focuses on enabling customer design wins and system-level radar solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level — requires approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in embedded systems and customer-facing engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead pre-sales technical activities for 77 GHz radar system architecture, silicon selection, and integration.
- Support customer designs: schematic and PCB reviews, bench bring-up, debugging, tracing, and root-cause analysis.
- Deliver on-site and remote proof-of-concept builds using evaluation kits.
- Lead technical training sessions, webinars, and internal alignment meetings.
- Coordinate projects across stakeholders, manage timelines, and document technical deliverables.
- Perform on-site customer support for hardware bring-up and software integration.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years working with RTOS on ARM cores; proficient in embedded C and common IDE/tools.
- Experience with MPUs/MCUs and debugging/trace tools (e.g., Lauterbach) for bring-up and troubleshooting.
- Ability to debug interfaces such as boot from flash (QSPI), MIPI CSI, Ethernet, and DDR.
- Hands-on use of test equipment (oscilloscope, network analyzer, etc.).
- Core understanding of ADAS topics: perception, sensor fusion, classification, or path planning.
- Prior customer-facing experience (Field Application Engineer or similar) and strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% and to work autonomously at customer sites.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with radar evaluation kits and protocol stack integration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience accepted.
