Field Application Engineer, EMEA (MIPS)

Role Summary

Customer-facing engineering role supporting Industrial, Aerospace & Defense, and Medical customers across Europe. The role drives design wins by matching customer requirements to MIPS processor IP, software tools, and custom silicon solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience: 2–5 years in field/application/design engineering supporting semiconductor IP, SoC/ASIC development, or embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support and drive customer adoption of processor IP and system solutions across the EMEA region.

  • Act as primary technical contact during customer evaluations and early development phases.
  • Advise on processor integration, software development environments, and system architecture.
  • Drive design-in activities and support customers through evaluation and implementation.
  • Lead technical discussions on CPU IP licensing and custom silicon solutions.
  • Demonstrate MIPS technologies and relevant ecosystem components (including RISC-V where applicable).
  • Optimize customer systems for performance, power, and cost.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and coordinate with internal engineering teams to resolve complex problems.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Sales to support proposals and convert opportunities into design wins.
  • Represent the company at customer workshops, demos, industry events, and ecosystem engagements in EMEA.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, customer-facing experience, and ability to operate independently in a field role.

  • 2–5 years in Field Application Engineering, Applications Engineering, or Design Engineering supporting customers.
  • Experience in Semiconductor IP, SoC/ASIC development, or embedded systems targeting Industrial, A&D, or Medical markets.
  • Strong understanding of electronic architectures (MCUs, SoCs, domain/zonal controllers) used in target markets.
  • Familiarity with processor architectures, embedded software development (compilers, SDKs, OS), and system-level integration.
  • Hands-on debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot across hardware and software stacks.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills; able to translate technical depth into customer business value.
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based role across EMEA and travel as required.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with the RISC-V ecosystem or CPU IP integration; prior work with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in Europe; experience with custom silicon/SoC flows; knowledge of functional safety standards.
  • Fluent English (C1 written and verbal).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline or a closely related field (engineering degree preferred).
