Field Application Engineer (Automotive Embedded Software)
Role Summary
Join the Automotive Field Applications team in Shanghai focused on embedded software for vehicle systems. The role owns customer-facing technical activities including embedded software development, system bring-up, integration, debugging, and field support for ADI products.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Position is a graduate role; the posting requests less than 2 years of relevant industry experience in automotive embedded software or related fields.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer technical support, embedded software work, and cross-team collaboration.
- Support embedded software development, integration, testing, and debugging for automotive platforms.
- Perform platform bring-up, firmware and driver integration, software configuration, and product evaluation.
- Reproduce issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive technical issues to closure.
- Develop and maintain demos, test programs, automation scripts, technical notes, and validation reports.
- Lead technical demonstrations, workshops, customer visits, and on-site troubleshooting within scope.
- Coordinate with Sales, Business Units, and engineering teams to resolve technical questions and follow up on action items.
Requirements
Core technical skills and attributes required; candidates should be hands-on and able to work independently.
- Proven hands-on embedded software development experience; ability to analyze and resolve system-level issues independently.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and strong foundation in embedded software concepts.
- Familiarity with MCU, DSP, or SoC architectures; experience with RTOS or embedded Linux, firmware, device drivers, debugging, and board bring-up.
- Experience providing customer support and working on customer platforms.
- Clear technical communication skills in Chinese (spoken) and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel within China when needed.
- Nice-to-have: experience or project work in automotive audio, DSP, Ethernet/Automotive Ethernet, TSN/AVB, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, or TDM.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Automotive Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related discipline. (Position is listed as a graduate job.)
