Field Application Engineer

Role Summary

The Field Application Engineer will drive design-win acquisition and provide technical support to customers in Korea using GlobalFoundries technology. This customer-facing role coordinates technical sales interactions, tapeout readiness, and post-tapeout support while liaising with internal product, design, and process teams.

Primary objectives are to win customer designs, ensure successful tapeouts and MPW/test chip execution, and translate customer requirements into actionable GF solutions.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical demonstrations and execute design-win acquisition strategies.
  • Act as the single technical interface for customers; coordinate all technical interactions with internal teams.
  • Prepare customized technical presentations, proposals, and design reviews.
  • Drive tapeout readiness and manage tapeout logistics (export control, IP declaration, frame tables, MPW/test chip requirements).
  • Resolve technical issues for design wins and tapeouts by engaging internal experts as needed.
  • Support Customer Engineering after tapeout for silicon verification, performance validation, and issue resolution.
  • Gather customer feedback, monitor competitive landscape, and recommend product or process improvements.
  • Collaborate with account and sales managers to ensure smooth handoff post-design win and meet design win, tapeout, and MPW goals.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications (must-have items listed first):

  • Must-have: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a technical/customer-facing role.
  • Must-have: Fluency in English and Korean (written and verbal).
  • Nice-to-have / Preferred: Experience in semiconductors (technology or design); exposure to IC product design and IP.
  • Nice-to-have / Preferred: Familiarity with design enablement flows and tools, and a basic understanding of silicon processing and device physics.
  • Nice-to-have / Preferred: Prior experience working with a foundry or in foundry-related roles.
  • Nice-to-have / Preferred: Strong analytical, technical, communication, sales aptitude, and project management skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience is required. A Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering is preferred. (The posting allows equivalent experience in lieu of formal degrees.)
