Job Title

FBAR Filter Designer

Role Summary

Design high-performance FBAR acoustic filters and RFFE modules for 5G and Wi‑Fi applications. The role owns the design lifecycle from resonator synthesis through die layout, package co‑design, and module integration to meet system-level performance targets for high-volume products.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience profile: PhD in EE or Physics with 3+ years relevant experience, or Master's with 7+ years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include ownership of device, die, and module design work and cross-functional collaboration to move designs into production.

  • Design and synthesize high-Q FBAR filters and multiplexers using optimized topologies.
  • Develop physical die layouts and floor plans; optimize for parasitics and thermal dissipation.
  • Co-design modules: manage interfaces between acoustic die, laminate, and PCB to ensure signal integrity.
  • Perform 3D EM co-simulations to model package-level parasitics, interconnects, and coupling.
  • Perform yield analyses (Monte Carlo, corner cases) to ensure robust performance for HVM.
  • Collaborate with process, modeling, test, module, and other design teams to correlate simulation and lab data and drive iterations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven track record.

  • Deep expertise in FBAR/BAW/SAW physics or extensive experience with RFFE module integration and RF/microwave circuit theory.
  • Expert proficiency with ADS and 3D EM tools such as HFSS, CST, or Sonnet.
  • Strong understanding of RFFE architectures, including carrier aggregation and coexistence requirements.
  • Experience performing Monte Carlo and corner analyses for yield and verification.
  • Proven record of successful tape-outs or high-volume product releases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to explain technical trade-offs to cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 3+ years of relevant RF/Microwave or acoustic filter design experience, OR Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant RF/Microwave design experience (acoustic filter or RFFE module). Fields: EE, Physics, or related technical disciplines.
