Job Title

FBAR Filter Designer

Role Summary

Lead development of high-performance RF front-end solutions focused on acoustic resonator (FBAR) synthesis through full module integration for 5G and Wi‑Fi applications. Work within a cross-functional design organization to translate die-level physics into manufacturable system hardware.

Experience Level

Senior — senior-level role with multi-year, advanced experience (see Education Requirements for specific guidance).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, simulation, integration, and verification of FBAR-based RF modules.

  • Design and synthesize high-Q FBAR filters and multiplexers using optimized topologies.
  • Own physical die layout and package floor planning, optimizing for parasitics and thermal dissipation.
  • Co-design interfaces between acoustic die, laminate, and PCB to ensure signal integrity and performance.
  • Lead 3D EM co-simulations to model package-level parasitics, interconnects, and coupling.
  • Perform Monte Carlo and corner analyses to validate yield and robustness for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with process, modeling, test, module, and other design teams to correlate simulations with lab measurements and drive design iterations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated track record.

  • Deep expertise in FBAR/BAW/SAW physics or extensive experience in RF front-end module integration and RF/microwave circuit theory.
  • Expert proficiency with ADS and 3D EM tools such as HFSS, CST, or Sonnet.
  • Strong understanding of RFFE architectures, including carrier aggregation and coexistence requirements.
  • Proven history of successful tape-outs or high-volume product releases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder presentations.

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience in RF/microwave design (acoustic filter or RFFE module). Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
