Fab Process Engineer
Role Summary
Develop, optimize, and sustain wafer fabrication processes to improve yield, quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturing productivity at a Micron wafer fab in Miaoli (Tongluo), Taiwan. The role partners with Equipment, Integration, Manufacturing, Quality, and supplier teams to resolve technical issues and support new product introduction and capacity ramps.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include process development, root-cause problem solving, and supporting production ramp and NPI activities.
- Develop, optimize, and sustain wafer fabrication processes to improve yield, quality, cost, and productivity.
- Drive process-step improvements and evaluate process changes.
- Lead continuous improvement and NPI/capacity ramp projects to meet production targets.
- Apply structured problem-solving methods (FMEA, 8D, RCA) to analyze yield excursions and defects.
- Diagnose root causes and minimize production downtime.
- Use data analysis, SPC, FDC, and APC to monitor process performance and detect drift or abnormal trends.
- Manage process qualification activities and process control plans; validate readiness for new process technologies.
- Collaborate with Equipment, Integration, Manufacturing, Quality, and supplier teams to resolve issues affecting yield, throughput, and quality.
- Support process transfers, production scaling, and technology introduction for next-generation processes.
- Prepare and communicate technical findings, analyses, and improvement recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical competencies and working behaviors are listed below; preferred skills are noted separately.
- Must-have: Knowledge of semiconductor process development and process/recipe management (process flow and recipe control).
- Must-have: Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Fault Detection & Classification (FDC).
- Must-have: Proficiency with structured problem solving: Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and 8D.
- Must-have: Data analysis skills and ability to interpret technical data to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Must-have: Continuous improvement mindset, strong collaboration skills, technical documentation, and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Must-have: Willingness and ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and cleanroom attire as needed.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Lithography, CVD, PVD, Diffusion, Ion Implantation, Etch, CMP, or wet process technologies.
- Nice-to-have: High-volume manufacturing (HVM) and DRAM process development or ramp experience.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Advanced Process Control (APC), metrology, process monitoring, defect inspection, JMP or similar analysis tools, or machine-learning applications in manufacturing.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with process qualification, validation, and technology/process transfers into production.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline is preferred (Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields). The posting also accepts advanced professional certification, equivalent military technical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating required competencies.
