FAB Device Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

Role Summary

Work within NXP Technology & Operations on wafer-level device engineering to improve yield, parametric control, and integration. Projects focus on probe testing, process control, and integration changes to reduce cost or enhance device functionality.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Must be enrolled in a degree program and returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship; candidates graduating before July 2027 are not eligible. No specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Functional yield enhancement via wafer probe and test development.
  • Maintain and improve parametric process control and data-driven controls.
  • Develop integration changes to reduce cost or improve device functionality.
  • Perform electrical testing, physical analysis, and statistical data analysis to troubleshoot and optimize processes.
  • Work independently and within cross-functional project teams; document and communicate results.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience required or preferred:

  • Classroom or lab experience with device parametric extraction methods and discrete device operation (MOS, BJT).
  • Familiarity with microfabrication and unit process integration concepts.
  • Experience with materials analysis techniques and materials metrology operation.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and process control concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using electrical testing, physical analyses, and statistical data analysis; ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with JMP, PROMIS, SQL, LabView, or bench probe characterization; prior co-op/research/industrial experience applying solid-state physics or electronic materials principles.

Education Requirements

Working toward a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering is required, or a related technical field such as Chemical Engineering or Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience. Candidates must be enrolled and returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship; applicants graduating prior to July 2027 are not eligible for this internship.
