Job Title

Experienced SoC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on SoC and subsystem integration for processing systems used in IoT, Automotive and Infrastructure computing. The role focuses on developing subsystem microarchitecture and RTL, integrating IP, verifying functionality, and collaborating with performance and IP teams to optimise performance, power and area.

This is a technical engineering role requiring cross-team collaboration and delivery of production-quality RTL subsystems.

Experience Level

Mid-level (experienced professional). Specific years of experience not stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include subsystem integration, microarchitecture and RTL development, verification support and performance analysis.

  • Understand incoming IP blocks, their interfaces and interactions within subsystems and SoCs.
  • Develop subsystem microarchitecture specifications and implement RTL.
  • Review verification test plans, assist debugging and fix functional issues.
  • Work with performance analysis teams to evaluate and improve system PPA (performance, power, area).
  • Propose refinements to IP teams based on system-level integration and usage.
  • Run and respond to design checks and static analyses (e.g. CDC, X-prop, lint) and fix issues.
  • Improve team design methodologies and guide or support other engineers as required.
  • Collaborate with Project Management on project planning and schedules.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred additions.

  • Must-have: Experience in digital hardware design and Verilog HDL.
  • Must-have: Detailed understanding of methods and techniques for complex SoC development.
  • Must-have: Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-prop, lint) and fixing associated issues.
  • Must-have: Experience creating design specifications and delivering sophisticated RTL subsystems on schedule.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python or similar) to support design and automation tasks.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with synthesis, timing analysis and power management techniques; ability to make PPA trade-offs and justify choices.
  • Must-have: Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with ARM-based designs or ARM system architectures.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of memory system interconnect protocols (e.g. AMBA ACE-Lite, AXI) and processor/NoC/security/PCIe subsystems.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SystemVerilog and modern verification methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree. (Degree or equivalent experience explicitly referenced in the posting.)
