Job Title

Experienced Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate high-speed analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for serial communications as part of MACOM's product development team. Contribute across the development cycle from circuit design and simulation to lab characterization and product qualification.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” approximately 5+ years of relevant analog/high-frequency IC design experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design, simulate, and verify analog/high-speed blocks (e.g., equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, TIAs, ADCs/DACs).
  • Use EDA and system-level simulation tools to optimize circuit performance and ensure silicon viability.
  • Plan and execute prototype evaluation, debug and characterize silicon using lab instruments (oscilloscopes, pattern generators, VNAs, spectrum analyzers).
  • Support product definition through qualification and release; collaborate with system, layout, test and firmware teams.
  • Document designs and present results to technical and management audiences; travel when required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven silicon track record in high-speed/GBps blocks and products.
  • Deep understanding of analog and high-frequency circuit design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with EDA design tools and circuit simulators.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment and prototype debug.
  • Familiarity with CMOS and/or BiCMOS process flows and high-frequency design techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work across teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with electromagnetic (EMX/HFSS) and system-level simulators (ADS, MATLAB).
  • System-level knowledge of wired or optical link transmit/receive functions.

Education Requirements

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is specified in the posting; the role expects graduate-level EE background with relevant analog/mixed-signal coursework and approximately 5+ years of analog IC design experience.
