Job Title

European Application Engineer - Calibre

Role Summary

As an Application Engineer for Siemens EDA's Calibre product line you will support sales and customer adoption across Europe by managing technical engagements, demonstrations, and benchmarks that drive product use and success.

Role is based in Meylan, France; some international travel within Europe and to the US is expected. Work type: hybrid.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify years of experience; prior application-engineering or significant customer-facing verification experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include technical customer engagement, product adoption, and sales support.

  • Build relationships with customers to assess technical requirements and propose Calibre solutions.
  • Deliver presentations, demonstrations, technical benchmarks, and evaluations.
  • Develop methodologies and flows, integrate tools into customer environments, and identify pilot projects.
  • Debug customer flows and provide technical leadership during sales campaigns and account planning.
  • Qualify technical opportunities, define success criteria, and communicate findings to the sales team.
  • Share account, evaluation, competitor, and technology insights with peers, sales, management, and product teams.
  • Participate in outbound marketing activities including trade shows, workshops, seminars, and webcasts.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional experience.

  • Experience as an Application Engineer or equivalent customer-facing role with physical verification (DRC, DFM) and circuit verification tools (LVS, PERC, PEX).
  • Broad understanding of physical verification, circuit verification, extraction, and DFM methodologies and flows.
  • Expert scripting/programming in CAD environments (TCL/Tk, Python).
  • Working familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Nice-to-have: rule deck writing (Calibre TVF, SVRF), EM/IR analysis experience, familiarity with competitive tools and netlist interfaces, compute farm/grid configuration and monitoring, background as an analog or physical designer.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience required. Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is preferred. Fields noted: Electrical Engineering; equivalent experience accepted.
