Entry-Level Digital Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join NXP's Austin team as a junior engineer supporting digital physical design activities. The role contributes to layout implementation, design checks, and preparation of design data while working with design, verification, and methodology teams to improve design quality.
This position is intended for recent graduates or those graduating soon and emphasizes structured learning and meeting project milestones.
Experience Level
Entry-level - targeted at recent graduates or those graduating soon; typically 0–2 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities include hands-on support of physical design tasks and cross-functional collaboration under senior guidance.
- Implement layout and perform design checks; prepare design data for integration.
- Support timing, power, quality, and rule-check tasks using standard EDA tools and flows.
- Collaborate with design, verification, and methodology teams to diagnose and resolve routine issues.
- Document design flows, results, and lessons learned for reuse by the project team.
- Follow structured execution practices and contribute to meeting project milestones while continuing technical learning.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviors for successful performance.
- Familiarity with engineering, design, verification, programming, or lab tools and a strong willingness to learn EDA tool flows quickly.
- Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, problem solving, testing, and technical documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical ideas clearly.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Nice-to-have: hands-on experience from lab work, design projects, internships, coursework, or student competitions.
Education Requirements
Recent Bachelor's or Master's degree (or graduating soon, within the past two years) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline. No certifications or equivalent-experience language were specified.
