Entry Level DFT Design Engineer
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Entry Level DFT Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on a design team to develop and deliver design-for-test (DFT) patterns and built-in test features for microprocessor-based SoCs, from test specification through production. The role interfaces with Test Engineering, Product Engineering, and Fabrication teams to support manufacturing test, qualification, yield improvement, and product analysis.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0β2 years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include defining, implementing, validating, and delivering DFT features and structural test patterns for SoC designs.
- Generate and debug structural test patterns and support pre- and post-silicon validation.
- Specify test pattern requirements and convert patterns for ATE usage.
- Implement and validate built-in self-test (BIST) and other DFT logic in designs.
- Collaborate with Test Engineering, Product Engineering, and Fab for manufacturing test and yield activities.
- Support test pattern delivery for qualification, production, and product performance analysis.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and abilities, plus a few preferred additions.
- Proficient with scripting and hardware description tools: Python, Verilog, Perl, Tcl, and Unix environments.
- Knowledge of structural test design concepts: ATPG, test coverage, and fault models.
- Familiarity with JTAG and BSDL, memory and logic BIST, and general DFT logic concepts.
- Experience with ATPG/DFT tool workflows (examples: FastScan, DFTCompiler, LBIST/MBIST tools).
- Understanding of semiconductor testing methodologies and functional pattern testing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to work across teams with minimal direction and manage multiple priorities.
- Nice-to-have: ATE/VLSI tester programming experience (J973, Tiger/Catalyst, UltraFex, Verigy 93000) and hands-on ATE usage.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering Technology) or equivalent practical experience. The role targets recent graduates with approximately 0β2 years of experience.
