Job Title

Entry Level ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer – Space Electronics - Mountain View

Role Summary

Join Boeing Electronic Products to develop and verify ASICs and FPGAs used in space, avionics, and related systems. The role focuses on digital IC verification, testbench development, and hardware validation for high-integrity systems.

This is an entry-level engineering role on-site in Mountain View, CA, supporting ASIC/FPGA design and verification across Boeing programs.

Experience Level

Entry-level (0–3 years) - early-career engineers, recent graduates, or those with internship/project experience in ASIC/FPGA verification.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include verification, implementation, and validation of digital ASIC/FPGA designs.

  • Develop and verify FPGA/ASIC designs from block-level micro-architecture through HDL coding and gate-level netlists.
  • Create self-checking, reusable testbenches using OOP concepts and UVM (drivers, sequencers, monitors, scoreboards).
  • Develop functional coverage models and perform code coverage closure.
  • Perform static timing analysis, linting, LEC, CDC checks, and other verification sign-offs.
  • Integrate DSP and third-party IP and validate interfaces with higher-level systems.
  • Support FPGA-based prototyping, hardware integration testing, and use of test-beds and specialized equipment.

Requirements

Must-have skills and constraints are listed first; preferred skills follow.

  • Must-have: U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain an interim and/or final U.S. Secret security clearance (post-start). Employer will not sponsor work visas.
  • Must-have: Coursework, projects, or internship experience with ASIC/FPGA verification and familiarity with RTL (Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog).
  • Must-have: Ability to write self-checking testbenches and apply Object Oriented Programming concepts (inheritance, polymorphism).
  • Must-have: Proficiency with Linux and common scripting tools (e.g., Python, Make).
  • Preferred: Experience with hardware emulators (Palladium) and hardware verification languages including SystemVerilog Assertions.
  • Preferred: Experience with functional coverage, code-coverage closure, and demonstrated ASIC first-pass success.
  • Preferred: Experience with high-speed SerDes interfaces (JESD204C, PCIe, Ethernet), revision control systems (svn, cvs, git), and space-design/radiation-mitigation techniques.
  • Other: Relocation assistance may be available based on eligibility; role is 100% onsite at the listed location.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications related to the work - or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.
