Engineering Manager - Architecture
Role Summary
Lead the Architecture engineering team, managing people and delivery across compiler, hardware, and system architecture efforts. Partner with technical leads to set priorities, align roadmaps, and drive execution on key engineering initiatives.
This role owns the team's operational cadence (sprint planning, backlog management, project tracking) and coordinates cross-functionally and with external vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time. Efficient develops highly energy-efficient processors; this position helps shape that architecture.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 5+ years of post-graduate experience with demonstrated engineering management, project leadership, and team-scaling experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for people leadership, delivery, and external coordination for the Architecture team.
- Manage and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, performance measurement, and individual growth plans with KPIs.
- Lead hiring and interviewing; participate in candidate screening and onboarding.
- Collaborate with technical leads to prioritize work and set roadmaps informed by Product, Sales, and Marketing.
- Create and maintain sprint plans, conduct retrospectives, and run daily scrum/standups.
- Maintain and prioritize the backlog; rescope and track tasks to meet delivery targets.
- Define statements of work, run alignment meetings, and track progress for external vendors and contractors.
- Coordinate cross-functional project tracking and risk mitigation to ensure timely delivery.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for the role.
- 5+ years post-graduate experience with proven people management and team-scaling track record.
- Prior experience leading engineering projects and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills: sprint planning, issue tracking, backlog management.
- Background in computer architecture or an adjacent technical discipline with familiarity of relevant technical problems and solutions.
- Experience engaging and coordinating with external vendors and contractors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
