Engineering IP Program Manager, Principal
Role Summary
The Principal Engineering IP Program Manager leads end-to-end program management for SoC IP development and delivery within Central Engineering, coordinating across product and custom silicon teams. The role manages schedules, dependencies, and cross-functional engineering resources to drive IP from conception through mass production release.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 10–15 years' related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 5–10 years with a Master's/PhD; 6+ years' relevant program/project management and mixed-signal IP design experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Accountable for IP program delivery and cross-functional coordination.
- Own program management for IP development and delivery to product business units, focusing on dependencies, deliverables, and status.
- Define and communicate dependencies and deliverables across local skill groups; coordinate with the Central Engineering PM team.
- Drive closure of IP specifications and requirements.
- Lead weekly cross-functional status meetings and provide regular program updates to executive stakeholders.
- Support and enforce program management processes; perform lessons learned and risk management activities.
- Provide matrixed leadership of engineering managers distributed across the organization.
- Ensure successful IP development outcomes through schedule, quality, and risk mitigation.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications.
- Proven IP program management experience through development to mass production release.
- 6+ years' experience as a mixed-signal IP designer.
- Experience in ASIC or microelectronics semiconductor product development.
- Knowledge of SoC/IC design flows, advanced process technologies, and silicon development methodologies.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management; ability to partner with technical managers to drive projects to completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with risk management and enforcing agreed processes.
- Nice-to-have: experience as an Engineering Project Manager in the semiconductor industry; experience as a mixed-signal design manager.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (BS/BE); MSEE preferred. Master’s degree or PhD in CS/EE or related fields is acceptable.
