Engineering Intern - PCB EMC Simulation
Role Summary
Join the EMC/ESD team to apply and validate PCB simulation flows to optimize electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance of electronic boards. Work will combine CAD-based simulations and laboratory measurements in a controlled test environment.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. 6-month internship suitable for a master's student or final-year engineering student.
Responsibilities
The intern will support PCB simulation and EMC validation activities, reporting to the EMC/ESD team.
- Develop and validate electronic boards following the proposed design flow.
- Evaluate and compare PCB simulation flows integrated in CAD tools.
- Perform EMC tests (emissions and immunity) in the laboratory.
- Compare and analyze simulation versus measurement results; identify root causes for discrepancies.
- Document test results, prepare summaries, and present findings to the team.
- Contribute lessons learned and propose improvements to the PCB design flow.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and specific equipment operating instructions.
Requirements
Technical and behavioral skills required or strongly preferred. Degree information is listed under Education Requirements.
- Knowledge of electronics and microelectronics.
- Experience with instrumentation and test-bench automation.
- Basic understanding of component-level EMC and radio-frequency concepts.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro or OrCAD.
- Hands-on experience with measurement/validation or test-laboratory work is a plus.
- Soft skills: rigor, autonomy, curiosity, analytical thinking, and initiative.
Education Requirements
Bac +5 level: student in a Master’s program or final year of an engineering school in electronics, microelectronics, or physical measurements (equivalent technical degree or comparable practical experience implied by internship eligibility).
