Role Summary

Validate low-speed peripheral IPs integrated into Arm-based SoCs and subsystems. Work with firmware, verification, design, and platform teams to plan, execute, and close validation activities across simulation, emulation, FPGA, and board bring-up environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation for peripheral IP, creating firmware and tests, debugging across hardware and software, and contributing to automation and validation collateral.

  • Develop, review, and execute validation plans for assigned peripheral IP and features.
  • Create bare-metal firmware, low-level drivers, and reusable test content for peripheral validation.
  • Validate functionality on simulation, emulation, FPGA, and development/evaluation boards.
  • Bring up and debug IPs and subsystems using register-level programming, memory maps, logs, traces, waveforms, and hardware debug tools.
  • Analyze failures, identify root cause, and coordinate with design, verification, firmware, and platform teams to resolve issues.
  • Contribute to automation, regression execution, and continuous improvement of validation methodology.
  • Maintain validation collateral, test documentation, execution reports, and debug notes.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to meet validation milestones and quality targets.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Practical experience in IP, subsystem, SoC, firmware, or post-silicon validation.
  • Good understanding of embedded systems, SoC architecture, and hardware-software interaction.
  • Experience with low-speed peripheral interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, timers, watchdogs, mailboxes, interrupts, or similar).
  • Strong C programming skills for bare-metal firmware or low-level driver development.
  • Familiarity with register-level programming, memory-mapped I/O, interrupts, polling, and exception handling.
  • Experience in test development, execution, debug, and issue triage across simulation/emulation/FPGA/silicon bring-up.
  • Scripting experience for automation and log analysis (Python, Perl, shell, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of simulation, emulation, FPGA, or silicon bring-up environments and standard SW development tools (Git, Makefiles, code review flows).
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Arm-based SoCs or Cortex-A/M/R systems.
  • Experience with pre-silicon emulation platforms (Veloce, Palladium, Zebu) or FPGA prototyping and board bring-up.
