Job Title

Engineer, Reliability Engineering

Role Summary

The Reliability Engineer plans and executes stress and qualification tests for new product releases, revisions, and manufacturing changes, and performs reliability monitoring. The role supports root-cause analysis of qualification failures and drives corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methods.

Experience Level

Entry-level. The posting requests a minimum of approximately 2 years of semiconductor industry experience in packaging, wafer fabrication, test, design, or device physics.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and running reliability evaluations, analyzing results, and working with cross-functional teams to advance products through development and qualification.

  • Develop and execute qualification plans, reliability evaluations, and risk assessments for products and process changes.
  • Perform reliability statistical calculations (MTTF, MTBF, FIT) and failure-rate modeling.
  • Lead structured problem-solving teams using Six Sigma/8D methodologies to investigate failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Translate qualification requirements across design, manufacturing, and test organizations.
  • Identify application-specific mission profiles and plan appropriate testing.
  • Support internal and external customers on reliability inquiries and status.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.

  • Minimum ~2 years semiconductor industry experience in packaging, wafer fabrication, test, design, or device physics.
  • Familiarity with reliability and qualification standards (examples: MIL-STD-883, JESD-47, JESD-94, J-STD-020, AEC-Q100).
  • Experience leading structured problem-solving efforts (Six Sigma methods, 8D).
  • Proficiency in technical writing, project management, and independent research.
  • Ability to perform reliability calculations and failure-rate modeling.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Note: Some hires may require export licensing review for access to technical data; this can affect non-U.S. applicants in certain cases.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Materials, Physics, or a related technical field is requested. Equivalent practical experience in semiconductor reliability or related disciplines may be considered.
