Role Summary

The Engineer, Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) performs physical failure analysis (PFA) and failure characterization for memory products to identify defect locations, failure mechanisms, and electrical failure modes. The role supports root-cause investigations and provides technical findings to improve yield, quality, and reliability.

This position works with Product Engineering, Process Integration, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, maintains safe laboratory practices, and develops expertise in PFA methods, circuit edit, and device behavior.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career. The role expects approximately 2+ years of relevant experience in PFA, semiconductor fabrication, or assembly environments (typical range 0–3 years).

Responsibilities

Perform and document failure analysis to support yield and reliability improvements; collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain laboratory readiness.

• Conduct PFA activities including fault isolation, de-capsulation, circuit edit support, and failure characterization on memory devices.
• Identify defect locations, failure mechanisms, and electrical failure modes; support root-cause investigations.
• Analyze device architecture, fabrication processes, device operation, and device physics to interpret failures.
• Present analysis results to stakeholders and recommend corrective actions to improve yield, quality, and reliability.
• Maintain and effectively utilize laboratory equipment, analytical tools, and failure analysis methodologies.
• Document technical findings and maintain records according to organizational standards.
• Support continuous improvement of laboratory capability, operational efficiency, and knowledge sharing.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures, operational protocols, and quality standards.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights where appropriate to improve efficiency and quality, following organizational and legal guidelines.

Requirements

Key must-have technical and professional skills for performing PFA and contributing to cross-functional failure analysis.

• At least 2 years' experience in physical failure analysis, semiconductor fabrication, or assembly environments.
• Practical experience with electrical fault isolation, failure mechanism analysis, and root-cause investigation methodologies.
• Knowledge of PFA techniques, de-capsulation methods, and circuit edit processes.
• Understanding of semiconductor device operation, device physics, memory architecture, and fabrication processes.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
• Clear technical communication and presentation skills; able to engage cross-functional stakeholders.
• Disciplined execution with strong attention to detail and adherence to lab safety and quality procedures.
• Ability to document technical findings and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics, Mechatronics, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
