Job Title

Engineer - PDE IOT Engineer

Role Summary

This role performs probe and back-end testing, design validation, and yield-improvement activities for NAND, MNAND and SSD products at Micron's Taichung site. The engineer will own test flows and programs, support new product startups and verification, perform failure analysis, and drive automation and data-driven yield projects.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Specific years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include development, validation and maintenance of test programs and processes to ensure product quality and yield.

  • Own and improve probe test flow and probe test program release for NAND products; ensure quality control.
  • Design and implement test algorithms and programs to validate NAND features and commands using high-speed tester hardware.
  • Support new product startup and design verification using CAD tools and Verilog simulation.
  • Work with wafer fab/process and integration teams to identify and resolve process-related defects affecting yield.
  • Perform electrical and physical failure analysis to determine root causes and recommend design/process fixes.
  • Automate program development and work processes using scripting; parse and analyze test data to improve yields and test times.
  • Develop MNAND test strategies, define required test fixtures, and perform system-level testing and failure analysis across product life cycle.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing firmware for SSD testing and self-test capabilities; optimize firmware for test coverage and efficiency.

Requirements

Essential skills and preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience in NAND/NAND system test and validation, including test program development and use of high-speed tester hardware.
  • Must-have: Experience with scripting for automation and data parsing (e.g., Python, Tcl, Perl or similar) and using statistical tools for data analysis.
  • Must-have: Experience performing electrical and/or physical failure analysis and driving yield-improvement projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with design verification tools and methods; experience with CAD tools and Verilog simulations is expected.
  • Must-have: Firmware development or maintenance experience for manufacturing/production test is required for SSD-related work.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of MNAND/3D NAND defect mechanisms and system error recovery features.
  • Nice-to-have: Basic understanding of AI concepts and familiarity with generative AI tools to support automation and productivity improvements.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with probe equipment, test fixtures, and probe/packaging interactions.

Education Requirements
