Job Title

Engineer - NAND Generators

Role Summary

As an Engineer for NAND Generators you will develop and maintain generator tools and processes to produce reticles and support tapeout for NAND products. You will work with process integration, design, photo, mask shop, advanced mask and frame groups to ensure error-free tapeouts and meet quality and schedule targets.

The role focuses on generator development, layout and database inspection, DRC review, automation of workflows, and cross-team coordination to improve quality, cost, and production efficiency.

Experience Level

Entry-level — approximately 1 year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include generator development, verification, and cross-team coordination to deliver accurate reticles and tapeouts.

  • Develop and maintain NAND generator tools and scripts.
  • Coordinate with process integration (PI), design, photo, mask shop, advanced mask group, and frame group during generator and reticle development.
  • Inspect layouts and fractured data to identify and correct errors; review DRCs and databases throughout tapeout processes.
  • Develop experimental reticles and support photo and PI objectives.
  • Automate workflows and build tools to improve tapeout quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Set objectives for sub-functions and ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of results.
  • Provide technical feedback to PI/customers and develop corrective actions to prevent tapeout issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role. See Education Requirements for degree and field expectations.

  • Proficiency in Python, C, C++, SKILL, and Java.
  • Experience in Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Experience with IC design CAD tools: schematics, layouts, simulation, and verification tools.
  • Experience with full-stack application development and designing tools to automate complex workflows.
  • Knowledge of design rules, OPC, databases, layout inspection, and tapeout processes.
  • Ability to review DRCs and inspect fractured data for errors.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to work across multiple teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with VLSI circuit design and related verification flows.
  • Prior experience in mask shop, photo, or advanced mask operations.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is accepted; the posting indicates a Master’s plus approximately 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Related fields explicitly referenced include EE, CE, and CS and VLSI circuit design knowledge was noted.
