Engineer, MTB PQA Lab

Role Summary

As a Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) Engineer in Micron Taiwan's MTB PQA Lab, you will perform failure analysis for qualifications, customer returns, new device introductions, and general test failures. You will isolate defects, determine root causes, and work with Process Integration, Assembly Product, and Test teams to implement corrective actions.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” fresh graduates welcome; training provided. Suitable for candidates with 0+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform laboratory-based failure analysis and investigations, including defect isolation and root cause analysis.
  • Operate and maintain advanced FA equipment and analytical tools.
  • Support cross-functional teams (PDE / PIE / PQE / EFA) on yield and reliability issues.
  • Classify failures and document findings to drive corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Work in shift rotations and maintain safety and quality standards in a hands-on lab environment.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Proactive, self-motivated learner with effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts (day/night rotation) in a hands-on laboratory.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering groups to identify and implement root-cause fixes.

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Experience with wafer fabrication, semiconductor assembly/packaging/testing, or failure analysis laboratories.
  • Familiarity with Hot Spot / Emission Analysis, Hamamatsu PHEMOS, Thermo Fisher ELITE DX.
  • Experience with FIB, SEM, 3D X-ray, grinders and sample preparation, and optical microscopy.
  • Knowledge of delayering, voltage contrast (VC), and fault isolation techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering; Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Chemical Engineering or Chemistry; Materials Science/Engineering; or other related STEM disciplines. Fresh graduates are acceptable and training will be provided.
