NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Engineer Intern - Advanced Receiver Architecture for Ultra-High-Data-Rate Wireless Communications
Role Summary
This is an engineering internship within NXP's Smart Front-End & Interfaces product line in Caen. The intern will research and evaluate receiver architectures for millimeter-wave wireless links targeting multi-Gbps data rates.
The role combines system-level modeling, circuit specification, schematic design and transistor-level simulation to assess sensitivity, robustness and energy efficiency of proposed receiver concepts.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship - intended for final-year electronics engineering students (engineering school).
Responsibilities
You will:
- Analyze existing communication and receiver architectures and identify limitations at multi-Gbps rates.
- Investigate and propose innovative receiver architectures to improve sensitivity, robustness and energy efficiency.
- Develop behavioral or system-level models to evaluate proposed concepts and trade-offs.
- Translate selected architectures into circuit-level specifications.
- Design schematic-level circuit implementations of selected blocks.
- Perform transistor-level simulations (SPICE) using industry-standard IC design tools to evaluate performance.
- Compare proposed solutions with reference architectures and design targets; document findings and recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Strong understanding of analog and RF design disciplines, receiver architectures and MOS technologies.
- Experience with Cadence tool flow (Virtuoso) and knowledge of Maestro or similar layout/simulation tools.
- Hands-on experience with schematic design and transistor-level simulations.
- Ability to build behavioral or system-level models for evaluation.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Enthusiasm, strong learning capability and good technical communication skills for reporting results.
Education Requirements
Final year of an electronics engineering program (engineering school) - candidate must be completing an engineering degree in electronics. The internship may lead to a Master’s thesis, PhD continuation or a permanent R&D position depending on results and mutual interest.
