Job Title

Engineer II - Systems

Role Summary

Join the Frequency and Timing Systems group to design and validate timing, position, and RF communications systems for government and commercial applications. Work on system architecture, embedded algorithms, and cross-disciplinary integration for products used in communications, aerospace/defense, and metrology.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 2.5 to 5 years of relevant systems engineering experience.

Responsibilities

The role uses systems-design methodology to take requirements through design, implementation, and verification. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engineer embedded systems and algorithms for time, position, and RF communications.
  • Define system requirements, design, implement, and validate system-level solutions.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, FPGA, and mechanical engineers to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing and Quality to introduce and release products.
  • Support system integration and installation at customer sites worldwide.
  • Participate in program documentation and formal review deliverables (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) as required.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills; preferred items are noted.

  • Must-have: 2.5–5 years of systems engineering experience covering requirements definition, design, implementation, verification, and testing.
  • Must-have: Experience with simulation, data processing, and analysis using Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with digital test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, multimeter).
  • Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must-have: Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware, software, FPGA, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Must-have: US citizenship required (export control requirements).
  • Nice-to-have: Expertise in digital signal processing, control system design, linear system analysis, or statistical classification algorithms.
  • Nice-to-have: Linux/Unix proficiency; knowledge of microprocessors, memory, and logic devices.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with precise timing components (oscillators, time measurement circuits, GPS receivers).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience executing government programs and formal review deliverables; current TS/SCI or DoD Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Other: Up to 15% travel.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) from an accredited university is required.
