Engineer II - Design

Role Summary

Engineer II on the ASIC/embedded controller design team. Develop processor-based SoC/ASIC features for tablets, notebooks and embedded systems, focusing on RTL design through pre-silicon validation.

Work within a cross-functional design team in Hauppauge, NY; collaborate with verification, firmware and system engineers to deliver silicon-ready designs.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • RTL design and implementation for processor-based SoCs/embedded controllers.
  • Run and analyze simulations; support synthesis and timing-closure activities.
  • Develop pre-silicon FPGA emulation environments and generate test vectors.
  • Debug design and integration issues across silicon and pre-silicon platforms.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to methodology improvements.
  • Collaborate with verification, firmware and system teams to integrate and validate features.

Requirements

Must-have skills, conditions, and working requirements:

  • Practical experience with ASIC/SoC design flow (design, simulation, synthesis, timing closure).
  • Experience with FPGA prototyping and pre-silicon emulation.
  • Ability to script or automate tools and test flows.
  • Self-starter and effective team player with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Legal right to work in the United States.
  • Travel: up to 25%.
  • Physical: primarily sedentary (approximately 90% sitting; 10% standing/walking); normal hearing, vision and speech required.

Education Requirements

MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required. Expected coursework/knowledge: Microelectronic Devices and Circuits; Semiconductor Devices; Analog Integrated Circuits; Digital Integrated Circuits; Digital Signal Processing; Low-power VLSI techniques. Familiarity with hardware description languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL) and programming/scripting languages (C, Python, Perl, TCL) is expected.
