Job Title
Engineer, HIG HBM Layout
Role Summary
Layout engineer on Micron's HIG HBM team responsible for block-level and chip-integration physical layout for High Bandwidth Memory used in AI and high-performance computing applications. Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to deliver layouts that meet electrical, thermal and mechanical requirements.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 2 to 5 years of relevant analog/custom layout experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include block layout delivery, verification, and coordination across teams.
- Design and develop analog, mixed-signal and custom digital block layouts; support full-chip integration.
- Perform physical verification tasks (DRC/LVS/antenna), execute quality checks, and maintain documentation.
- Provide accurate area/time estimates, schedule work, and meet project milestones across multiple projects.
- Review and guide peer team members on sub-block layouts and critical items.
- Communicate with local and global engineering teams to resolve layout and integration issues.
- Support tape-outs and test-vehicle builds as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise listing follows.
- 2β5 years of analog/custom layout design experience in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
- Hands-on creation of layouts for critical analog blocks (temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgap/reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers).
- Proficiency with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Solid understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling/crosstalk, IR-drop, and parasitics.
- Ability to assess layout impact on speed, capacitance, power, and area and implement high-quality layouts within constraints.
- Strong problem-solving skills for physical verification of custom layouts.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: multiple tape-out support experience and experience with test-vehicle builds for electrical/thermal/mechanical validation.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics or VLSI Engineering is preferred. Exceptionally talented diploma holders in electronic or VLSI engineering will also be considered. No other degrees, certifications, or equivalent-experience language were specified.
