Engineer - FPGA
QualcommJob Title
Engineer - FPGA
Role Summary
As an FPGA hardware engineer on Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering team in Bangalore, you will design, verify, and bring up FPGA-based hardware and test systems that support development and production of semiconductor products. The role focuses on circuit-level design, measurement, simulation, and cross-functional collaboration to meet performance, yield, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 1–4 years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, testing, and production support for FPGA and related hardware systems.
- Plan, design, optimize, verify, and test FPGA-based electronic systems and related digital/analog/RF components.
- Integrate features into hardware designs to meet roadmaps and performance targets.
- Perform simulations and analyses to optimize power, performance, and area.
- Develop and operate test solutions and manufacturing bring-up processes to improve yield and test time.
- Characterize devices and evaluate materials and reliability; propose automation and optimization to increase productivity.
- Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, and systems teams to implement requirements.
- Write technical documentation and reports for hardware projects.
Requirements
Key skills and practical experience required and preferred.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA systems, hardware bring-up, or hardware engineering in semiconductor or related environments (preferred 1–4+ years).
- Experience with circuit design (digital, analog, or RF) and schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Cadence) — 2+ years preferred.
- Proficiency using hardware measurement and debug instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and RF test tools.
- Experience developing manufacturing/test solutions, yield improvement, and product bring-up.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, software, verification, validation).
- Familiarity with reliability evaluation, materials characterization, and automation for testing is desirable.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (with 2+ years hardware experience), OR Master's degree in those fields (with 1+ year experience), OR PhD in those fields. Master's degree is listed as preferred. The posting indicates degree-plus-experience combinations as the minimum qualification.
