Engineer, Firmware & Product Test Engineering

Role Summary

Work within Micron's SSD Product Validation team to define and execute validation strategies for SSD firmware used in datacenter applications. Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and product teams to ensure functional, quality, and reliability coverage across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Deliver and maintain validation coverage for SSD firmware and contribute to automation and debugging efforts.

  • Design and implement known, grey-box, and closed-system validation tests for SSD firmware targeting datacenter use cases.
  • Translate product requirements into scalable validation coverage in partnership with firmware, hardware, and product teams.
  • Create, execute, and analyze test plans to verify functionality, quality, and reliability throughout the SSD development lifecycle; identify firmware issues and improve product robustness.
  • Use C, Python, and automation frameworks to accelerate bug finding, support debug and root-cause analysis, and drive issue resolution with firmware engineers.
  • Leverage AI-supported development and validation tools to speed test creation and improve verification methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and work traits.

  • Proven programming skills in C and Python.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and writing automated validation tests.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel, including international and intercontinental business trips, as needed.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in product development, validation, verification, or product testing.
  • Advanced Python skills for test development, automation, and data-driven problem solving.
  • Knowledge of SSD architecture, storage concepts, and related protocols.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
