Engineer Failure Analysis (m/w/d)

Role Summary

Perform and coordinate physical and electrical failure analyses for internal and external customers at Vishay Siliconix Itzehoe. Lead cross-functional analysis teams, deliver clear root-cause findings, and define corrective and preventive actions. Support reliability monitoring, process and product quality improvement through data-driven analysis.

Experience Level

Mid-level / Mid-Career. The role expects several years of professional experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably in Failure Analysis, Process Integration, or Device Engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include technical ownership of failure analysis projects and communication of results.

  • Coordinate and perform physical and electrical failure analyses for internal and external customers.
  • Prepare professional failure analysis reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to identify root causes and define sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and optimize failure analysis procedures, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Manage analysis turnaround times and ensure high quality of reports and KPI evaluations.
  • Coordinate reliability monitoring and activities related to product reliability.
  • Support development, process-improvement, and quality projects with analytical insights.

Requirements

Key professional and technical qualifications; listed as must-have vs. nice-to-have.

  • Must-have: In-depth knowledge of semiconductor technology, microelectronics, or semiconductor physics.
  • Must-have: Several years of professional experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably in Failure Analysis, Process Integration, or Device Engineering.
  • Must-have: Structured, analytical, and self-driven working style; strong quality awareness and results orientation.
  • Must-have: Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in international, cross-functional teams; fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with common failure analysis tools and methodologies.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field ("vergleichbare Fachrichtung").
