Role Summary

Customer-facing application engineer supporting GlobalFoundries' mature, RF, and advanced-node platforms with a focus on IP and digital design flows. The role owns technical customer cases end-to-end, provides design enablement, and liaises between customers and internal technology teams to enable successful tape-out and first-time silicon success.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance from the posting: Bachelor's with 2–4 years, Master's with 1–3 years, or PhD with 0–1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

The engineer will provide hands-on application support and design enablement to customers throughout the design cycle.

• Own and resolve customer technical cases: reproduce issues, identify root causes, and deliver solutions or workarounds to enable tape-out.
• Provide expert application engineering support for complex design challenges and act as a trusted technical partner.
• Develop and deliver customized technical presentations, workshops, and proposals to support customer evaluations and design activities.
• Represent GlobalFoundries’ technologies to customers and internal stakeholders, transparently describing capabilities and limitations.
• Identify gaps and bottlenecks in PDKs, design flows, or enablement solutions and propose improvements aligned with customer requirements.
• Serve as the voice of the customer by feeding design insights and requirements back to development and technology teams.
• Analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate applications of GlobalFoundries’ products and technologies.
• Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and company policies.

• Must-have: Strong technical aptitude, structured and detail-oriented problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Must-have: Customer-facing experience or exposure to technical sales/support activities.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with IC design environments, enablement flows, and EDA tools.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience in the semiconductor industry or collaboration with a semiconductor manufacturer.
• Nice-to-have: Experience supporting IP, RF, high-voltage, or automotive semiconductor technologies.

Education Requirements

Technical degree required. The posting specifies: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience guidance tied to degree: Bachelor's with 2–4 years relevant experience, Master’s with 1–3 years, or PhD with 0–1 year. Exceptions to the technical degree requirement may be subject to local HR approval.
