Emulation Engineer (Junior)

Role Summary

As an Emulation Engineer you will prepare designs for emulation, run tests, identify failures, capture waveform data, and perform initial triage. The role supports platform and product teams by improving emulation testbenches, automation, and debug workflows.

Entry-level; typically requires 2+ years of practical experience.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on enabling and debugging hardware designs on emulation platforms and improving related tooling and processes.

  • Prepare and adapt designs for emulation; execute tests and capture failure waveforms for triage.
  • Improve, maintain, and extend emulation testbench components including custom IP and AVIP.
  • Perform initial failure analysis and support detailed debug with technical teams.
  • Develop and maintain scalable automation and scripts usable across product lines.
  • Understand emulator architecture to optimize debugging strategies and improve build performance and resource usage.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Experience with emulation platforms such as Veloce, Zebu, or Palladium.
  • Strong scripting skills: Python, TCL, Bash, and Makefile.
  • Strong debugging skills for CPU-internal, integration, emulator configuration/synthesis, script, and Linux software/configuration issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex hardware and software issues.
  • Nice-to-have: understanding of IP integration, RISC-V assembly, AMBA protocols (AHB/APB/AXI), Linux kernel experience, and revision control systems (Perforce, Git).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree (BS or MS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience. The posting indicates approximately 2+ years of practical experience is expected.
