EMC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Meta Reality Labs as an EMC Design Engineer to design and validate electromagnetic compatibility for wearable computing platforms such as VR headsets and AR glasses. You will apply signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC principles across the hardware development lifecycle-from schematic review through board bring-up and regulatory compliance testing-to ensure reliable, high-performance products.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include system-level EMC design, simulation, and troubleshooting in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Design grounding and shielding strategies and integrate them with mechanical and electrical constraints.
- Create design specifications and guidance with clear risk trade-offs for product teams.
- Develop and maintain simulation methodology and flows covering DC to EM frequency bands and multi-physics effects.
- Support board bring-up and regulatory compliance testing for EMC and related measurements.
- Troubleshoot failures using simulation and lab data; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Requirements
Must-have skills and conditions:
- 2+ years of industry experience in EMC design and simulation.
- Practical experience with EM simulation tools and EMC measurement techniques.
- Solid fundamentals in grounding and shielding theory.
- Experience applying simulation and lab data to debug hardware and perform failure analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance testing and board bring-up processes.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment at time of hire.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience applying AI tools to engineering workflows (e.g., prompt/context engineering, automation to improve efficiency).
- Knowledge of responsible AI practices and how to integrate AI into design processes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. A Master’s or PhD is listed as preferred.
