Embedded Systems Applications Engineer

Role Summary

The North America Regional Applications Team seeks an Embedded Systems Applications Engineer to provide customer-facing technical support for high-speed converters, mixed-signal front ends, and integrated transceivers. The role diagnoses system issues, recommends solutions, and develops reference designs and technical content.

Experience Level

Senior - requires seven or more years of relevant experience in applications engineering, embedded systems design, or product development.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support and enablement for customers and field teams across hardware, firmware, and system integration.

• Provide customer technical support and training via email, phone, virtual channels, and onsite visits.
• Assess customer system requirements and recommend products, signal chains, and reference designs.
• Support hardware and software platforms, evaluation systems, algorithms, system models, and full-stack reference designs.
• Review customer system and hardware designs, diagnose complex technical issues, and guide customers through resolution.
• Partner with internal hardware, software, and HDL teams to communicate customer needs and recommend product improvements.
• Develop application notes, technical articles, and training material; maintain product and industry knowledge.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools, and work conditions.

• Strong foundation in mixed-signal and RF systems, digital communications, embedded hardware/software, and system-level debugging.
• Hands-on experience with high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., LVDS, JESD204).
• Experience with FPGA devices, development tools, and HDL (Verilog or VHDL).
• Proficiency developing embedded software for Linux and bare-metal systems using C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink; familiarity with Embedded Coder / HDL Coder.
• Hands-on use of laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% for customer-site visits.
• Nice-to-have: experience designing/supporting high-speed ADCs/DACs and integrated RF transceivers; direct customer-facing technical support experience; US citizenship or permanent resident (Green Card).

Education Requirements

Master's or doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; specialization in digital communications is a plus. (No alternative degree or equivalent-experience language was specified.)
