Role Summary
Join the MCUXpresso SDK team to design and execute validation and testing for embedded software running on NXP microcontrollers. The role focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and reproducibility of low-level drivers, middleware, examples, and tools across silicon revisions and hardware platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years-of-experience requirement is stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and maintain test plans and test cases for the MCUXpresso SDK.
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing of low-level drivers, middleware, and example applications.
- Execute tests on real hardware and in simulated/pre-silicon environments where applicable.
- Analyze test results, identify root causes, and collaborate with developers to debug and resolve defects.
- Contribute to improving test coverage, test automation, and test infrastructure.
- Validate software behavior across MCU variants, boards, and configurations.
- Document test results clearly and communicate findings across teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical experience with embedded systems testing or embedded software development in C.
- Understanding of microcontroller architecture fundamentals and hardware-dependent testing (GPIO, timers, DMA, communication peripherals).
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital hardware circuitry relevant to validation.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks or scripting (for example, Python).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to debug issues close to hardware; experience with test execution and defect tracking.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT and standard software development workflows.
- Effective written and spoken English communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with MCUXpresso SDK, BSPs, or low-level driver development.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems in embedded environments.
- Experience with automotive or industrial quality standards (e.g. ASPICE, ISO 26262).
Education Requirements
No specific degree or field of study is stated in the posting. The description notes that assignments may be in scope of security-related certifications, so relevant security certifications could be required depending on the assignment.
