Job Title

Embedded Software Engineer for Automotive Battery Management Systems

Role Summary

Develop and automate embedded system-level test applications and test scenarios for automotive battery management and related automotive product lines. Work within a Bucharest-based software development team that validates microcontroller and low-level software functionality following automotive industry standards.

This role focuses on embedded C test development, automation of test execution, and collaboration with development and product teams to ensure software quality.

Responsibilities

Validate and automate embedded software and hardware features for automotive products.

  • Develop embedded test applications in ANSI C to exercise hardware features and low-level software.
  • Create and implement automated test cases and scripts for test execution and analysis.
  • Use industry techniques and test tools to automate test execution.
  • Maintain test logs, produce test reports and summaries, and track issues using JIRA or similar tools.
  • Improve test strategy and contribute to test process enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with development and product management to define testing objectives.

Requirements

Core technical skills and communication required to perform the role.

Must-have:

  • Proficient programming in ANSI C.
  • Knowledge of CPU/computer architecture and embedded system fundamentals.
  • Embedded debugging skills for targets and low-level software.
  • Scripting proficiency (Perl, Python, Bash) and familiarity with build tools (Makefiles).
  • Practical knowledge of testing methods (unit, integration, functional testing).
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ARM or Power Architecture.
  • Experience with MCU peripherals and external devices (power management, external flash).
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics.
  • Experience with Git or other version control and requirements management tools.
